(Business 2.0) – The high prices at Whole Foods have led some waggish customers to dub the supermarket Whole Paychecks. Now the organic and gourmet grocery chain really does want a bigger chunk of your biweekly nut--by selling you not just kale and Camembert but also organic jeans, recycled-glass plates, and yoga mats. Just before Halloween, Whole Foods is launching its first Lifestyle store in West Hollywood, Calif., next to a regular Whole Foods. The 2,000-square-foot shop will sell everything from earth-friendly cosmetics and furniture to low-toxicity paints. The retailer tested the concept by adding a lifestyle section to its Austin flagship; nonfood sales helped to make it one of the chain's best-performing stores.
