Daktronics, Inc. designs, manufactures, markets and services display systems in sports, business and transportation applications. It supplies electronic scoreboards, computer-programmable displays, digital billboards, large screen video displays and control systems. The company operates its business through five segments: Commercial, Live Events, Schools & Theatres, Transportation, and International. The Commercial segment sells video, Galaxy and Fuelight product lines to resellers, outdoor advertisers, national retailers, quick-serve restaurants, casinos and petroleum retailers. The Live Events segment sells integrated scoring and video display systems to college and professional sports facilities and convention centers. This segment also sells mobile display technology to video rental organizations and other live events type venues. The Schools & Theatres segment engages in the sale of scoring systems, Galaxy displays and video display systems to primary and secondary education facilities. This segment also sells Vortek automated rigging systems for theatre applications. The Transportation segment consists of sales of Vanguard and Galaxy product lines to governmental transportation departments, airlines and other transportation related customers. The International segment sells all product lines outside the United States and Canada. Its integrated visual display systems include full color video, text and graphics displays located on a local or remote network. Daktronics was founded by Aelred J. Kurtenbach and Duane E. Sander in 1968 and is headquartered in Brookings, SD.
