Daktronics, Inc. engages in the design, manufacture, marketing and support of electronic scoreboards, large electronic display systems, digital messaging solutions, and related marketing services. The company operates through five reportable segments: Commercial, Live Events, Schools and Theatres, Transportation, and International. The Commercial segment primarily consists of sales of video, Galaxy, Fuelight, and Valo product lines to resellers, outdoor advertisers, national retailers, quick-serve restaurants, casinos and petroleum retailers. The Live Events segment consists of sales of integrated scoring and video display systems to college and professional sports facilities and convention centers and sales of mobile PST display technology to video rental organizations and other live events type venues. The Schools and Theatres segment consists of sales of scoring systems, video display systems to primary and secondary education facilities and sales of Vortek automated rigging systems for theatre applications. The Transportation segment consists of sales of Vanguard and Galaxy product lines to governmental transportation departments, airlines and other transportation related customers. The International segment consists of sales of all product lines to geographies outside the United States and Canada. Daktronics was founded by Aelred J. Kurtenbach and Duane E. Sander in 1968 and is headquartered in Brookings, SD.
