It operates in two business segments: Vessel Operations and LNG Trading. The Vessel Operations segment owns or leases, and subsequently charters out liquefied natural gas carriers and floating storage and re-gasification units on fixed terms to customers. The LNG Trading segment provides physical and financial risk management in liquefied natural gas and gas markets. Golar LNG was founded on May 10, 2001 and is headquartered in Hamilton, Bermuda.
