Trimble Navigation Ltd. provides integrated positioning, wireless, and software technology solutions. It operates through four reportable business segments: Engineering & Construction, Field Solutions, Mobile Solutions and Advanced Devices. The Engineering & Construction segment primarily serves customers working in architecture, engineering, construction, surveying, natural resources and government. The Field Solutions segment addresses the agriculture and geographic information system markets. Its agriculture products consist of guidance and positioning systems, automated application systems, and information management solutions. The Mobile Solutions segment provides both hardware and software applications for managing mobile work, mobile workers, and mobile assets. Its vehicle solutions include an onboard proprietary hardware device consisting of a global positioning system receiver, business logic, sensor interface, and a wireless modem. The Advanced Devices segment business comprises of Embedded Technologies, Timing, Applanix, Trimble Outdoors, Military and Advanced Systems, and ThingMagic. Trimble Navigation was founded in 1978 by Charles Robert Trimble and is headquartered in Sunnyvale, CA.
