Telecom giant introduces one rate, one bill for all kinds of phones

NEW YORK (CNNfn) - With a shout of "all for one and one for all," AT&T unveiled a new service Wednesday that offers a single rate for wireless and landline services.
AT&T (T) said its AT&T Personal Network package offers different types of calling at the same rate on a single bill so customers can use them interchangeably.
The service costs $29.99 per month and charges 10 cents a minute on all local and domestic long-distance digital wireless calls customers make from their wireless home area. The offer includes voice mail with text messaging and caller ID at no extra cost.
Customers also will pay 10 cents a minute on their AT&T wire calls. The rate also applies to long-distance calls made from home within the United States to Canada, the United Kingdom and border cities in Mexico; domestic calls made with an AT&T calling card; and domestic calls made to an AT&T personal 800 number.
The service will be available Jan. 31 and a television ad campaign will break during Sunday's Super Bowl.
The company said AT&T Personal Network is aimed at people who operate in a smaller area than so-called "road warriors," but who still want multiple service.
"By paying the same low per-minute rate for their communications services," said John D. Zeglis, president of AT&T and chief executive officer of AT&T consumer services, "consumers can now focus on what is important to them -- reaching the people they want and the information they need."
AT&T shares closed down 2-3/4 Tuesday at 86-7/8.
