Paging Network soars on Yahoo!, ESPN deals; Techniclone jumps

NEW YORK (CNNfn) - Shares of Paging Network (PAGE) jumped 76 percent in mid-afternoon trading Monday, climbing 5/8 to 1-7/16 with more than 20 million shares traded.
The Dallas-based company, which provides wireless messaging and information delivery in all 50 states, recently entered agreements with Yahoo! and ESPN to provide branded information.
The announcement Monday by Amazon.com (AMZN) that it plans to enter a partnership with Drugstore.com in which the popular online pharmacy will have a tab on the retailer's homepage sent Amazon shares up more than 16 percent by mid-afternoon.
Shares of Seattle-based Amazon.com were up 10-5/16 to 72-3/8 in afternoon trading on heavy volume of 20.5 million shares.
Shares of Drugstore.com (DSCM), which offers health and beauty information and products in addition to pharmacological items, was up about 20 percent, or 5-7/8, to 35.
Techniclone Corp. (TCLN). shot 1-5/16, or 44 percent, in afternoon trading to 4-5/16 a week after the biopharmaceutical developer of cancer treatment technology announced plans to license a segment of its Vascular Targeting Agent (VTA), a technology used to fight tumor growth.
And Quintiles Transnational Corp. (QTRN)., a provider of research sales, consulting and information management, said Monday it is teaming up with Healtheon/WebMD (HLTH) Corp. to connect doctors and other providers over the Internet.
Quintiles shares were up 25 percent, or 5-15/16, to 30-3/8.
Liquid Audio Inc. (LQID). is entering a pact with Microsoft to distribute music digitally. Its catalog of 50,000 downloadable songs and one million music previews will be accessible through Microsoft's Windows software. Shares of Liquid were up 30 percent, or 7-3/4, to 33-5/8 Monday afternoon.
Microsoft (MSFT) shares were down 2 percent, or 1-3/4, to 102.
