A major tech player is heading to Motown.
The city of Detroit said that Amazon (AMZN) will greatly expand its operations in the city in 2016, adding more full-time, tech jobs to a major corporate office that will double as a "technology hub."
Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan said the city was excited to welcome the e-commerce giant.
"Having a global company establish a base in our city is another example of how more businesses are seeing Detroit as a good investment," Duggan said in a news release.

Peter Faricy, vice president for Amazon Marketplace, said in the release that the company has long-term plans to grow in the state.
"Michigan is a rapidly growing technology corridor and we're eager to bring the incredible local Detroit talent to Amazon," Faricy said.
Detroit filed for bankruptcy in July 2013, but emerged from court protection in December. While the city still has a long road ahead, investors and businesses have been placing major bets on the city's comeback.
