MKZ: Lincoln luxury has not yet arrived

The newest model from Ford's luxury brand shows that there's a lot of work still to be done.

Interior complications

At least the MKZ's interior looks very nice, although there is clearly an emphasis on novelty over straightforward functionality.

I have to tell you, I like knobs. Knobs are good. They work. Sliding my finger along a touch-sensitive plastic strip to turn the radio volume up and down is confusing and seems to serve no purpose other than looking cool and, maybe, impressing my passengers.

Using push buttons to select the gears also took some getting used to. (Notice the lack of a gearshift lever.) At least that serves a purpose. It frees up space between the seats that would have ordinarily been used for the lever. But, by the end of the week, I still hadn't quite gotten used to those buttons.
