Tightest security: Eclipse

At 533 feet and a price tag of $485 million, Eclipse was the world's previous biggest, most expensive yacht until Azzam came along.

Yet when it comes to security, Eclipse still manages to generate the most buzz. Owned by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, the yacht is said to have lasers capable of blinding the cameras of prying paparazzi. It also reportedly has anti-missile defense technology and an escape submarine, as well as more run-of-the-mill super yacht security features.

"Most of the largest yachts I have been on have extensive security systems such as closed-circuit television, motion sensors under the decks and fingerprint access to certain areas," said Maarten Janssen, content director at SuperYachtTimes.

When traveling in pirate infested waters, Janssen said it's not uncommon for these yachts to deploy additional security measures including sonic guns that pierce the eardrums of attackers, as well as water cannons and armed guards.
