  • Sold for: $2.4 million
  • Sold by: Gooding & Co.

This car's original owner was John Duval Dodge, the son of John F. Dodge one of the two founding brothers of the Dodge Brothers car company. The younger Dodge's purchase of a $20,000 car -- an enormous sum in its day -- from another company was regarded as scandalous, according to Gooding. First introduced in 1929, Duesenberg's Model J was considered the epitome of luxury and performance. The body for this particular car was created by the famed coachbuilder LeBaron.
