15 execs who make more than their CEOs

Sure, corporate chiefs' pay often is eye-poppingly high. But at some companies, executives lower down the ladder quietly out-earned their CEO bosses.

Chase Carey, $24.9 million

Carey re-upped his commitment to the media company this summer with a two-year employment contract.

While Murdoch's salary is $3 million higher, Carey wins the stock option game. He received $11 million in stock awards, almost double Murdoch's $6.3 million.

Carey, who returned to the media company in 2009 after a stint as CEO of DirecTV, has had the same $4.05 million salary for the last three years. --K.V.
