From the founder of the home furnishings store Design Within Reach comes Public Bikes, a company founded in 2010.
Like its predecessor company, Public Bikes strives to bring good-looking products to the public at affordable prices. Founder Rob Forbes said the company has seen growth rates of 50% for the last two years.
Forbes credits the whole "sustainable cities" movement with the resurgence in biking, including a desire to pollute less, save money, and exercise more.
This Dutch-style bike, a unisex model so named for its low cross bar, popular in the Netherlands, sells for $595.
