Benioff's base salary has been set at $1 million for the past two years.
He received a $1.3 million cash bonus last year and almost $19 million in Salesforce.com(CRM) stock options and awards. He also received $650,000 to cover costs related to his personal security which are "of paramount importance to the company," according to a regulatory filing.
Total compensation is calculated as the sum of base salary, discretionary and performance-based cash bonuses, the grant-date fair value of stock and option awards during the fiscal year, and other compensation like benefits and perks. Equilar, an executive compensation research firm, prepared the data by looking at CEOs of technology companies that filed proxies by June 3, 2013. See more on Marc Benioff from Equilar.
