Yachtmaker Columbia is trying to change that with the 40S -- one of the world's first hybrid yachts. The hybrid technology allows the boat to run on an electric motor at low speed, greatly reducing noise and emissions. The hull's slim design and lightweight materials add to its efficiency.
"This boat brings hybrid design into the superyachting mainstream and offers a greener path for future builds," said Stewart Campbell, editor of Boat International.
