Doggie trust fund

cool and crazy rich
A Maltese like Trouble, but $2 million poorer.
  • Patron: Leona Helmsley

The billionaire New York hotelier left $12 million to her dog -- a Maltese named Trouble -- when she died in 2007.

Helmsley gained notoriety when she was tried for tax evasion in 1989, with testimony from former employees about how she terrorized them landing her with the nickname "queen of mean."

The Maltese lived in a Helmsley hotel in Florida, ate meals on fine china and had a body guard until it died in 2011.

Trouble had to make do on less than $12 million though. A judge later reduced its inheritance to $2 million on the grounds that Helmsley was mentally incompetent.
