A solid-colored tie is another must. But, "choose your colors wisely," Wilcox advises.

The trick is to select colors that complement your skin tone.

"If you're a little pink in skin color, the dark reds are going to bring that out," he says. "If you have a little olive in your skin, great colors like chocolates or dark greens or purples are going to look beautiful."
