MindRacers blends classic play with augmented reality.

The concept -- a collaboration between Mattel and startup Osmo -- transforms Hot Wheels cars into a virtual world.

Unlike a traditional toy racetrack, cars race side by side on two short ramps that lead to a tunnel under an iPad base. The cars then magically appear on the iPad screen, where the game play continues. Tokens trigger specific actions, such as upping the speed, after they're dropped on to the lane.

The game comes with an Osmo iPad base, an Osmo LaunchPad, six Hot Wheels cars, a launcher and 32 tokens.
