Every year, around the time of the iPhone's release, reports of problems plaguing Apple's new smartphone inevitably pop up.
In the weeks after Apple launched the iPhone 3GS in 2009, users complained that the phone was getting very hot. Some even posted photos online of their iPhone's plastic case melting from the heat.
Apple never addressed the issue directly, but put an explainer on its website that told users what to do to avoid overheating, including keeping the iPhone out of direct sunlight and off of car dashboards.
