In 2006, Charles River Ventures took a risk. The investment firm bought 1% of Twitter in its first funding round, a big bet that paid off.
Charles River's stake isn't big enough to make it one of the largest shareholders, however. So its holdings were not listed in regulatory filings. That means it is not clear how much the firm's investment is worth right now.
