July 22, 2009. Release of the most successful version of Windows -- Windows 7.
It was praised for its back-to-basics approach, correcting a lot of the bloat that existed in Windows Vista. It also introduced touch support, a "peek" button that lets you see the desktop, the ability to quickly snap two windows in place and shake an app's title bar to clear everything else off the screen.
The taskbar was completely redesigned in Windows 7, featuring icons instead of tabs. Users could pin programs to the taskbar, reorder apps, hover to see thumbnails of all the tabs open in an app and right-click to launch app-specific commands.
