2014: Turing test winner
7 of 9
Eugene Goostman, a thirteen-year-old Ukranian boy with poor English convinced more than 33% of judges that he was human.
But Eugene Goostman was actually a Russian-designed robot.
The robot passed the Turing Test, which proposes that a robot must be indistinguishable from a human during conversation.
Still, skeptics say that even if 33% of people thought he was human, 67% did not.
Plus, the Russian developers really cut themselves some slack by making him less proficient in English. It could've made people more forgiving of the mistakes he made.
Still, it made enough waves to tagged as the first "intelligent" robot.
