Elon Musk estimated the Hyperloop's total cost at less than $6 billion. A Hyperloop system that also allowed transport of vehicles, not just passengers, would total $7.5 billion, according to Musk's 2013 calculations. He assumed $20 one-way fares would eventually cover the Hyperloop's costs.
