One tech gadget store is banking on a different business model.
Instead of taking a percentage of any profits, B8ta charges companies a flat fee to display their products in the store. In return, B8ta collects data on how people interact with those gadgets.
The hardware makers displaying products also receive updates about how many impressions, demos and sales their products had.
At its San Francisco location, there are 24 cameras monitoring sales and browsing shopper habits. The company said the cameras are noticeable throughout the store and any data collected is anonymous.
