MiniDisc (1993): Flop

Sony's MiniDisc system was designed to replace CDs, but the format failed to take off. MiniDiscs were less than half the size of CDs and were rewritable. But CD-RW debuted in 1997, making CD-burning possible, and the record industry never embraced MiniDiscs.
