Cool cars from the Geneva Motor Show

Europe's biggest car show features some of the nicest cars on the planet.

Volkswagen XL1

Volkswagen is calling this the most fuel-efficient production car in the world. The XL1 plug-in hybrid is expected to get about 261 miles per gallon, according to VW. It has an all-electric driving range of about 31 miles.

The two-seat car weights just 1,700 pounds. It's powered by a combination of electric motors and a two-cylinder diesel engine. The car's two occupants don't sit quite side-by-side but, to maximize comfort in a tight space, the passenger's seat is slightly farther back than the driver's.
