From Twitter to CNNMoney's reader comments, the Internet was abuzz with everything from jokes to recriminations after Hostess announced it will shut down.

Until it closed, Hostess said it made 500 million Twinkies annually.

@davepell: Hostess is filing for bankruptcy. We'll be out of fresh Twinkies in 3,800 years.
