Collectors who prefer "preserved" rather than "restored" cars are still in the minority, said Martin. Most collectors, when they dream of finding that perfect car, are picturing something with shiny paint and glittering chrome, not a car with faded paint and ripped seats.
But among preservationist collectors, said Martin, the adage is "A car can be restored many times. It's only original once."
