Environmentally friendly cars are usually the big thing in California, but some performance models were unveiled this year, too.
When people opt to buy a subcompact car, many of them are doing it for fuel economy. But, as it turns out, many tiny little cars get fuel economy that's no better than larger, roomier compact models.
Ford's looking to widen that gap by putting a tiny 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine into the little Ford Fiesta. As a bonus, this optional twin-turbo engine will also produce more power than the car's standard 1.6-liter four-cylinder while still getting considerably better mileage. Official EPA estimates aren't available yet, but Ford's promising over 40 mpg on the highway.
