Just over a thousand Crosleys, an early compact car, were built between the fall of 1941 and February of '42 when production was halted by America's entry into World War II. This car has black bumpers because chrome was being taken up by the war effort.
Crosley did start making cars again after the war, but production finally ceased in 1952.
