The BMW i3, planned to go on sale next year, is the first electric car to go into full-scale production from an established luxury automaker.

Being small helps in urban driving situations, but there's more to being a city car than that.
Unlike most BMW models, the i3 has no transmission hump running through the center of the car. That flat floor allows for the i3's front-seat passengers to enter and exit easily from either side, a handy feature when dealing with tight parking spaces.
The back doors are also hinged in the back so there's no need for a pillar between the front and back doors, which makes access even easier.
