These are some of the more interesting new cars and concepts unveiled at Germany's International Auto Show.
This is not a concept car. The BMW i8, a plug-in hybrid sports car, will go on sale in the U.S. in the the spring of next year at a sticker price of about $136,000. It will go from zero to 62 miles per hour in 4.4 seconds and get roughly 94 miles per gallon according to BMW.
The car is made largely from carbon fiber reinforced plastics. It will be available with new "laser headlights" in markets where regulations allow. (That means this feature may very well not be available in the United States.) The i8 is the second model unveiled in BMW's i line of plug-in cars. The i3 city car, unveiled in July, will go on sale around the same time at the much lower price of $41,350.
