Chrysler Group's chief executive, Sergio Marchione, hates those annoying California rules that require automakers to sell electric cars there. So you'd think Chrysler Group's "compliance car," the all-electric Fiat 500e, would show all the signs of minimal, grudging effort.
Weirdly enough, it doesn't. The Fiat 500e is cool-looking and fun to drive. In fact, it's even more enjoyable than the gasoline-burning 500. Engineers carefully thought out battery shape and placement to give the car decent interior space and good weight balance. Federal and state incentives also make that price more palatable for such a tiny car.
