History of the Volkswagen Beetle

It wasn't until 1945, under the supervision of British military authorities, that Volkswagen began mass producing the Beetle. The first production run consisted of 20,000 vehicles.

In August of 1947 Volkswagen began to export the Beetle. In 1949 the first Beetles were sent to the United States.
