This picture shows the Maserati Kubang, a concept vehicle, but Maserati's production SUV will be called the Levante, pronounced le-van-tay. It's named for a road in Bologna, Italy, that was home to one of Maserati's earliest factories. Contrary to early reports, this SUV will not be based on the Jeep Grand Cherokee nor will it be built in Detroit. Instead, it will be built in Italy and based on Maserati's own engineering. As with other Maserati models, the engine will be built by Ferrari. The Levante is expected to go on sale later this year or next year.
