1988 Pontiac Fiero GT

The Fiero was a great idea but it took General Motors a few years to get it right. With its engine mounted behind the car's two seats, the Fiero had the makings of a fun little sports car. But, when it was first introduce in 1984, the actual performance failed to live up to the sporty looks. (It didn't help that early cars also had to be recalled for possible engine fires.) GM contininued to improve the Fiero, though. By 1988 Pontiac had a worthy sports car. By that time, though, years of bad press had rendered the Fiero name unsalvageable. This was the model's final, but best, year in production.
