Although perhaps less recognized that other 1980s supercars, the Porsche 959 was years ahead of its time. In many ways, it was the precursor of today's 918 Spyder, a modern showpiece of Porsche technology. Besides having a 450-horsepower turbocharged six-cylinder engine, making it a monstrously strong car for its day, the 959 had a number of technological innovations. For instance, it had a tire-pressure monitoring system that utilized hollow magnesium wheels and an advanced all-wheel-drive system.
