This was originally one of 12 Futurliner buses built by General Motors for the 1939 New York World's Fair. Later, they traveled across America carrying, in their big bellies, examples of the bright future coming from GM's factories. Eventually, that future arrived, bringing with it television and making the big bus tours obsolete. This one was one of several Futurliner buses converted for use as an open vehicle carrier. Last year, a fully restored original bus sold at a Barrett-Jackson auction for $4 million, so this modified version is relatively inexpensive.
