CEO Meg Whitman makes just a $1 salary, but when stock, options, and other goodies are included, her total pay last year was a hefty $15 million. Contrast that with, say, Whole Foods' John Mackey: His total pay was just over $69,000.
Hayne cut his salary to $1 back in 2010. Most of his other pay comes in the form of auto and life insurance premiums Urban Outfitters covers.
If the retailer had met its 2012 sales and profit targets, he could have also received a performance bonus as much as $500,000. Luckily his wife, Margaret, president of the firm's Free People brand, was paid more than $450,000 last year. Oh, and that their shares in the company as of January are worth more than a billion dollars.
