At L'Oréal they say you're never too young to lead. Case in point: CEO Jean-Paul Agon started out as an intern in 1978 and has spent his entire career at the beauty company.
You don't need a beauty background either. Employees come from fields as far-flung as engineering, political science and banking. What matters is a desire to learn while you earn: The company says the lion's share of on-the-job learning comes through experience, followed by feedback.
For everything else, L'Oréal has partnered with Coursera to offer free online classes from top schools like Harvard, Columbia and HEC Paris. Use them to learn a new language in case you want to move to an overseas branch of the company's 140 destinations worldwide. L'Oréal will even buy you and your partner one return flight back home every year. --T.Z.
