Seattle just passed a $15 minimum wage bill, and San Francisco will vote on one in November. It's a hot topic among lawmakers around the country, and business owners are concerned.
John Helm, 34, owns six sub franchises in New Jersey and has six more in development.
Helm has roughly 15 workers in each location, most of whom earn the New Jersey minimum of $8.25 an hour.
While a $15 minimum wage hasn't made it onto the public stage in New Jersey, business owners in the Garden State are still thinking about what it could mean for them.
Helm thinks a wage hike would likely trigger a 30% rise in prices. It could bump the price of his most popular sub -- the "Original Italian" -- from $7 to $9.10.
"I'd also probably have to cut hours," Helm added.
