Mattel (MAT) paired up with Autodesk, a maker of 3D design software, to debut its family-friendly ThingMaker 3D printer and design app.
With it, kids can design and produce dolls, robots, dinosaurs, even jewelry. If they're stuck for inspiration, the app offers design ideas.
The ThingMaker 3D system (priced at $299.99) will be available in the fall.
