Two virtual companions

ChiP and Coji
CHiP is a cute little robot dog that acts -- almost -- like a real canine.
From toymaker WowWee, CHiP uses artificial intelligence to interact with its "owner."
It recognizes its master and responds to commands (sent through a smartband) like "sit," "lay down" and "come." It also plays fetch and soccer with the SmartBall. ChiP knows when it's time to head to its SmartBed (docking unit) to recharge.
Also from WowWee is Coji (Coding with Emojis). The robot aims to teach kids basic programming skills using emojis.
With the app, kids can use emojis to talk to Coji. If they send it an emoji of a musical instrument, for example, it will made a music sound and send a smiley face emoji back on its LCD screen.
You can also program a string of emojis to direct it to do simple movements like move forward and turn left or right.
Both CHiP (priced at $199.99) and Coji ($59.99) will be available in the fall.
