It's going to take a solid year, if not years, for Microsoft and Sony to fully realize their visions for their respective video game consoles. And when you go down the list category by category, the Xbox One and PS4 are very evenly matched.
But given that neither console will have a stellar selection of games for the next several months and neither is backwards-compatible with previous-generation games, there's currently simply more to do with the Xbox One and its superior selection of apps and services. Plus, Microsoft's approach to designing a console operating system and user interface feels newer and fresher than Sony's offering.
It will be worth reevaluating next year, but if you're buying a console right now, the Xbox One is the system to pick.
