2014 was Uber's terrible, horrible, no good, very bad year. Well ... except for receiving giant investments that valued the company at more than $40 billion.
Several Uber drivers raped and harassed passengers, and one ran over a six-year old kid. Uber ran a sexist ad campaign in France. It stalked reporters, and one Uber executive said the company should dig up personal details of one of its biggest critics. Drivers protested against unfair wages, and the company pushed subprime loans on cab operators. Uber sabotaged its biggest rival by ordering and canceling nearly 6,000 rides. And Uber continues to face regulatory hurdles and challenges in many of the cities in which it operates.
