The spring of 2011 was one to forget for Sony, when the company suffered multiple hacks across different divisions that resulted in the theft of 77 million credit card accounts.
The worst of the breaches came through Sony's PlayStation Network. The company noticed an "external intrusion" on its systems in April 2011 affecting its PlayStation Network and its media streaming service Qriocity. It pulled the plug on both services for several days as it determined the extent of the attack.
