Game Boy Micro (2005)
4 of 8
This came out just as "make it smaller" was all the rage. Apple had its iPod Nano. Nintendo's shrinking ray produced the Game Boy Micro.
But it turned out to be Iwata's first miss. It just didn't make much sense.
Surprisingly, gamers found the smaller size made it easier on the hands. But old Game Boy cartridges couldn't fit, so the game library was smaller.
Plus, the Micro's $100 price tag forced gamers to make an awkward choice. An extra $20 would get them a Game Boy Advanced SP that could play all their old games. An extra $30 would get them a much better Nintendo DS Lite.
