Offering Internet speeds of 1,000 megabits per second (40 times faster than most home Internet service), Google Fiber is shaking up the broadband industry.
It currently operates in the Kansas City area, Provo, Utah, and Austin, Texas, and it has plans to expand to at least six more cities. Since it launched in 2011, many other telecom companies have begun deploying so-called gigabit broadband Internet speeds.
It's unclear if Project Fi, Google's new cell phone service, will be part of Google Fiber.
