Online therapy app Talkspace bills itself as an easy, inexpensive alternative to traditional therapy.

The app pairs users with a licensed therapist to send unlimited text, video or audio messages 24-7, starting at a weekly rate of $49. Therapists typically respond once or twice per day.

Talkspace offers other packages depending on specific needs, from couples therapy to chatting with someone by phone ($79 weekly). The startup offers 2,000 therapists in its network. Talkspace doesn't currently accept insurance, Medicare or Medicaid.

Earlier this month, Talkspace announced a partnership with Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps to promote the importance of therapy. Phelps is also on its advisory board.
