President's Message As we move into a new year, I'd like to reflect on Navy Federal's performance this past year and the many challenges we faced as a nation. Even during the slowing economy of 2001, Navy Federal remained financially sound and secure. We offered some of the lowest auto loan and mortgage rates in our history, added more than 230,000 new members and continued to enhance products and services. We are committed to being there for you with consistent, reliable services, protecting your financial security and providing the convenience demanded by your unique lifestyles. In the days and months following September 11, Navy Federal went to extraordinary measures to serve and support you and your families. In addition, with your help we raised over $545,000 for the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society's Pentagon Assistance Fund and the American Red Cross. Navy Federal's $345,000 donation to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society was that organization's single largest corporate contribution to date. Your generosity is evidence of the credit union philosophy of “people helping people.” As we recover from September 11 and confront an uncertain economy at the start of 2002, Navy Federal continues its solid financial performance and moves forward in confidence.
