The Dual-Ghia was among the most expensive and exclusive cars of its era. Among the famous owners of Dual-Ghais were Frank Sinatra and his "Rat Pack" friends, including Dean Martin and Peter Lawford. The name comes from Dual Motors, the truck company owned by Dual-Ghia founder Eugene Casaroll (his company made twin-engined trucks) and Ghia, the Italian auto body design and manufacturing company.

Casaroll purchased the cars' design from Chrysler, which had worked with Ghia on a number of concept cars. The Dual-Ghias were based on Chrysler's Firearrow show cars.
